Wellness Programs. Beyond the legal requirements, employers may want to consider providing wellness programs to employees. There is a large body of evidence that shows a connection between wellness and increased productivity in the workplace. A healthy work environment can lower healthcare costs, reduce absenteeism, increase performance, reduce injuries and provide other positive benefits for employer as well as employees. Wellness programs include any of a wide range of programs that encourage mental and physical health such as exercise, stress reduction, personal counseling, smoking clinics, etc.
